Justice for Comfort Women: A Call for State Accountability

For decades, the survivors of the "comfort women" system have sought more than just recognition—they have sought justice. To address this historical trauma, a three-fold approach is essential for true reconciliation and healing.

Official Accountability and Apology
The Japanese government must unequivocally confront its past. We demand a clear assumption of state responsibility for the institutionalized comfort women system, expressed through a sincere, official, and irrevocable apology. Anything less fails to honor the dignity of the victims.

Substantive Reparations
Words must be backed by action. It is imperative that the Japanese government provide comprehensive legal and humanitarian compensation to the survivors and their families. These reparations serve as a necessary acknowledgement of the profound suffering and human rights violations endured by these women.

Preservation of Memory
History must not be erased. We call upon the Philippine government and the international community to safeguard historical sites and establish memorial museums. Key to this preservation is the erection of comfort women statues and art works ensuring that future generations never forget this chapter of history.

Expose and investigate deliberate efforts to interfere with the erection of statues

Justice is not merely a request; it is an obligation to the past and a foundation for a more ethical future.
